How it works

Who can complain

Any business, apart from tourism businesses, can lodge a complaint against an entity licensed by Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET).

What to expect

The Business Protection service will study the complaint and work to reach a settlement between the complainant and the defendant company.

Liable establishments

The business complaints department can only investigate complaints against Dubai companies that are licensed by DET.

Required documents

You will need to provide documentation to prove what was agreed, and proof that what was delivered did not meet that agreement.

Types of complaint

Check below if your complaint meets the criteria for the Business Protection Department to investigate it.
Eligible complaints

The defendant must be an establishment licensed by the Department of Economy and Tourism in Dubai (DET) and the complaint submitted must be within the jurisdiction of the Department.

Ineligible complaints

Complaints that fall outside jurisdiction of the Business Protection Department include:

  • Purchases from a store in another emirate
  • Complaints about telecommunications and internet services
  • Real estate complaints, real estate regulation, and real estate lease contracts
  • Food spoilage or expiration
  • Cheques
